Biography

Michael W. King is a producer, director, and writer who has been working in the film and television industry for over two decades.

He has produced, directed, and written documentaries, music videos, and feature films, and is currently developing a TV series titled The Ministry with UK best-selling author Damien Lewis.

Prior to this, King completed his critically-acclaimed documentary The Rescuers in 2011, which documents the diplomats who risked everything to save tens of thousands of lives during World War II. The film was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in 2012 and recently screened at the United Nations Conference on January 23, 2013.

In 1999, King's PBS documentary on youth violence in America, Bangin', won the Emmy and International Television and Video Association Award for Best Documentary and Best Editing.

He also completed a feature documentary entitled Rapping with Shakespeare in 2007, which examines a popular English teacher's usage of hip-hop and rap as mediums to help his students better access Shakespeare's works.

Michael King has received several awards and nominations for his work, including an A&E Indie Filmmaker Award nomination in 2008 for Rapping with Shakespeare, and the Carl Lutz Medal of Freedom in 2009.
