Michael Lee Merrins was born in New York City, but spent his childhood in Westwood, California. His father, Eddie Merrins, is a renowned golf professional known as "The Little Pro." Michael's mother, Lisa, is also involved in the golf world.
Michael attended St. Paul's the Apostle School and Loyola High School, where he received a golf scholarship to Louisiana State University (LSU). After completing his studies at LSU, he was accepted into The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City.
Michael went on to study acting with Academy Award winner Geraldine Page and Elaine Aiken of The Actor's Studio. He also received the "Backstage" Scholarship to the Michael Chekov School and studied dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center.
As a working actor, Michael continued to hone his craft with Stella Adler, Jeff Corry, and Brian Reese. He appeared in several off-Broadway plays, including "Kid Champion," "The Silo," and "A Streetcar Named Desire," in which he played the iconic role of Stanley Kowalski.
Michael's early film work included "Bailjumper," which premiered at the Angelika Film Center, and "Thriller," a classic music video featuring Michael Jackson. He went on to appear in a number of notable films, including "Die Hard: With a Vengeance," "Eraser," "The Bachelor," and "Murder in the First."
In addition to his film work, Michael has appeared in a number of television shows, including "General Hospital," "Murder, She Wrote," "Billionaire's Boy Club," "Angel," "Party of Five," and "E.R."
Michael has also had a successful career in commercials, starring as the character Dentman for Kelly Tires. He has also worked as a photographer, running his own production company, DoubleDawg Productions, and producing an independent film based on James Dean.
In his free time, Michael enjoys travel, hiking, and photography, particularly in Big Sur, where he often spends weekends. He is also an avid golfer and sports fan, and is known for his love of fast and sporty cars.
