Biography

Michael Rowe, a multifaceted artist with a profound passion for creative expression, initially discovered his artistic calling through his work as a songwriter and drummer for the post-hardcore/punk band Bucket Truck. Over the course of an impressive decade-long tenure with the band, he had the esteemed privilege of sharing the stage with an array of renowned acts, including the legendary NOFX, the iconic Slayer, the innovative Fishbone, and the influential D.O.A.

Following the eventual breakup of Bucket Truck, Rowe was faced with the daunting task of reevaluating his priorities and redirecting his creative energy.

Michael, in pursuit of a fresh and innovative creative endeavour, made the decision to relocate to Vancouver, where his brother Andrew was in the process of establishing himself as a filmmaker of considerable renown. With no prior experience or background in the film industry, Michael embarked on a journey of self-discovery, producing and performing in his brother's digital comedy shorts, which would eventually prove to be a pivotal moment in his career.

The short film "Sleepy Stories", a testament to Michael's burgeoning talents, garnered significant attention and acclaim at various film festivals, paving the way for his future projects. This was followed by the critically acclaimed "Vehicular Romanticide", a cinematic masterpiece that received widespread recognition and support from esteemed institutions such as the Whistler Film Festival and the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of British Columbia (MPPIA).

Michael's journey as a filmmaker was thus marked by a series of significant milestones, each one building upon the last, as he continued to hone his craft and push the boundaries of his creativity.

Michael's entry into the world of acting started with a period of training at The Actor's Foundry, a prestigious institution located in East Vancouver, where he honed his craft and laid the groundwork for a successful career. This initial foray into the performing arts ultimately led to a recurring role on the popular CW television series Arrow, where he brought to life the iconic character of Deadshot, a fan favorite. Michael's background in comedy proved to be a significant asset in his portrayal of the character, as it allowed him to infuse the performance with a unique and offbeat energy that was both dark and captivating, making Deadshot a standout in the show.

Michael's career trajectory took a significant turn in 2016, as he embarked on an ambitious new venture by assuming the lead role of Ninjak in Valiant Comics' inaugural live-action series, "Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe", slated for release in 2017.

In tandem with this endeavor, Michael devoted time to his independent projects, collaborating with his brother on their debut feature film, Crown and Anchor, in which he portrayed the central character, James Downey.
