Michel'le Denise Toussaint, known professionally as Michel'le, is an American R&B singer born on December 5, 1970. She rose to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s with hits like "No More Lies," which peaked at number ten on the US Hot 100 chart.
Michel'le's music career began when she was 16 years old, after meeting Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Romelle Young, while recording a vocal part for the World Class Wreckin' Cru's song "Turn Off the Lights" in 1987. The song peaked at number 54 on the Billboard Charts. They started dating shortly after meeting, and Michel'le turned 17 in December. Dre was 22 at the time and had a baby on the way from a previous relationship.
The couple became engaged and had a son, Marcel, in February 1991. Marcel was Michel'le's first child and Dre's sixth. However, their relationship became increasingly strained due to Dre's drinking, infidelity, and volatile behavior. Michel'le has stated that Dre was physically abusive throughout their relationship, and she began self-medicating with prescription pills and alcohol.
After discovering that Dre was engaged to another woman, Michel'le left him. At her lowest point, Death Row Records CEO/co-founder Suge Knight intervened, sending her to rehab to help her get clean. In 1999, Michel'le married Suge while he was in prison, but they divorced six years later. During the divorce process, Michel'le discovered that her marriage to Suge was invalid because he was still married to his ex-wife Sharitha. She also claimed that Suge hit her once, dislocating her jaw.
Michel'le and Suge have a daughter, Bailei, born in 2002. In 2009, she took Suge to court over unpaid spousal and child support.
