William Edward Fichtner is an American actor, voice actor, and director, born on November 27, 1956, in Mitchell, South Dakota. He is the son of Mary A. (Lelas) and Kenneth Harold Fichtner, a professor who taught at the University of Kansas.
Fichtner grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and graduated from Cheyenne Central High School in 1974. He then attended Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1978.
After college, Fichtner moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting. He began his career on stage, performing in various Off-Broadway productions and eventually landing his first film role in the 1991 movie "Boyz n the Hood".
