Mike Butcher, a multifaceted British individual with a background in engineering, songwriting, and music, embarked on his professional journey at Morgan Studios in London, where he gained valuable experience before relocating to Belgium to contribute to the expansion of Morgan Studios in Brussels. As he continued to grow professionally, he rose to the position of head engineer in 1978.
Butcher's creative endeavors were often intertwined with those of Alan Ward, a fellow engineer at Morgan Studios in London, whom he met during his time there. Together, they formed a lasting collaboration, with Butcher playing guitar and co-writing songs for the British punk/new wave band Elton Motello, which Ward joined under the pseudonym "Elton Motello", while Butcher adopted the stage name "Jet Staxx". Although the band didn't achieve significant commercial success, both Butcher and Ward continued to work as record producers and songwriters, pursuing their passion for music.
