Biography

Mimie Mathy is a French actress, comedian, and singer born on July 8, 1957. She is best recognized for her starring role in the long-running television series Josephine, Guardian Angel. Mathy's height is 4 ft 4 in (1.32 m) due to her diagnosis of achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism.

Mathy's interest in the theatre began during her childhood. She pursued her passion by studying the dramatic arts at Michel Fugain's workshop in Nice from 1979 to 1981. In the early 1980s, she performed in various theatre roles and appeared in the television show Le Petit Théâtre de Bouvard.

In 1988, Mathy formed a touring comedy troupe called "Le Trio des Filles" (The Three Girls),which performed shows such as Existe en trois tailles (Available in Three Sizes) until 1993. In 1993, she starred in the TV movie Une nounou pas comme les autres (A Nanny Like No Other),which gained a 52.7% market share and was watched by approximately 12 million viewers in France.

Since 1994, Mathy has participated in the annual Les Enfoirés (The Tossers) charity concert for Restaurants du Cœur (Restaurants of the Heart) a total of 15 times. Les Enfoirés was the most-watched TV show in France in 2009, with 12.3 million viewers.

In 1997, Mathy began her title role in Josephine, Guardian Angel, a TF1 TV series that gained immense popularity in France. In 2006, she released a music CD titled La Vie M'a Raconte (Life Told Me),which was produced by Patrick Fiori.

On August 27, 2005, Mathy married Benoist Gérard, a restaurateur and chef who stood at 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m) tall, after selecting him from her audience during one of her shows.

Since May 2009, Mathy has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.
