Mita Vashisht is a renowned Indian television, film, and theater actress, who has earned recognition for her multifaceted talents and contributions to the world of performing arts. Born in Pune, Maharashtra, India, to Rajeshwar Dutt Vasisht, a retired Colonel in the Indian Army, and Meenakshi Mehta Vasisht, a teacher and musician, Vashisht's early life was marked by a strong foundation in education and the arts.
After completing her post-graduate degree in literature from Punjab University, Chandigarh, Vashisht went on to graduate from the prestigious National School of Drama, New Delhi, in 1987. This marked the beginning of her illustrious career in the world of theater, film, and television.
Vashisht has worked in a wide range of roles, from off-beat cinema to commercial projects, and has also made a name for herself in the world of theater, where she has written scripts and performed in various productions. One of her most notable solo performances is her play "Lal Ded", based on the life of the medieval Kashmiri mystic Lal Ded, which she has performed in both English and Hindi since 2004.
