Mitchell's academic and professional journey began with their graduation from the University of the Arts London in 2015, where they earned First Class Honours.
Their thesis film, "G O'Clock", made its debut at the prestigious BFI Flare Film Festival in 2016, showcasing their early talent and dedication to the craft.
After gaining momentum, Mitchell went on to produce their first independently made film, "The Suit Weareth the Man", which premiered at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in 2020.
Their films have since been showcased at a range of Academy Award and BAFTA accredited film festivals, including OutFest, Iris Prize LGBT+ Film Festival, Bolton International, and Cheries-Cheris.
"The Suit Weareth the Man" went on to receive widespread recognition, taking home several awards, including Best Cinematography at the New York Cinematography Awards in 2020 and Terror in the Bay Film Festival in 2021.
Additionally, the film won Best LGBTQ+ Short Film at the Venice Film Awards in 2020 and the Florence Film Awards in 2020, Best International Film at the Melbourne Overlooked Film Festival in 2021, and Best Original Screenplay at Terror in the Bay Film Festival in 2021.
Beyond their work as a filmmaker, Mitchell is also an emerging screen actor, having appeared in notable projects such as the BBC's RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 1 in 2019, the short film "Wendy and Vee" in 2022, and the groundbreaking Australian LGBTQ+ mini-series In Our Blood in 2023.
