Born and raised next door to the Yugoslav Film Archive in Belgrade, Serbia, Mrdakovic's proximity to this cinematic treasure trove sparked a lifelong fascination with the art of filmmaking. As a young boy, he spent countless hours watching thousands of films from the entire history of cinema, laying the groundwork for his future career in the industry.
After completing his education at Belgrade University in Architecture, Mrdakovic pursued a career in film, working in various aspects of movie production. His extensive experience culminated in the creation of his first feature film, Mamarosh (2013),which premiered at the 35th Moscow International Film Festival in the main competition and went on to receive numerous awards at various festivals.
Prior to writing and directing Mamarosh, Mrdakovic co-wrote the screenplay for It's Me, Eddie / It's Me The Hero, which won the prestigious Hartley Merrill Screenwriting Competition Award in collaboration with The Screen Writers Guild Of America, Los Angeles, California. This screenplay was based on the novel by Russian writer Eduard Limonov.
As a second unit director and art director, Mrdakovic has worked on several notable projects, including Emir Kusturica's Underground (1995),which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival, and internationally recognized films such as Project Millennium, Minus One, Coffee and Cigarettes, and many others.
Mrdakovic has also been involved in the production of numerous Serbian films, including Nacionalna klasa, Laf u srcu, Moljac, Berlin Kaputt, Tesna koza, Drugarcine, Cudo nevidjeno, Lepota poroka, Veliki transport, Pejsazi u magli, U zatvoru, Sta je sa tobom Nina, Magic Snowman, Secerna vodica, Cao inspektore, Srecna Nova 1949, Smeker, and many others.
