Monique Edwards is a multifaceted performer, boasting a career that spans acting, singing, directing, and producing. Her most recent endeavor was completing the filming of Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters alongside Robyn Lively and Bart Johnson.
Throughout her illustrious career, Monique has made appearances in various television shows, including episodes of "Mr. Mercedes", "Conan", How I Met Your Mother, Friends, and the Academy Award-nominated film "Lady Bird", starring Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf, written and directed by Greta Gerwig.
Monique has also had the privilege of performing in the play "If All the Sky Were Paper", based on Andrew Carroll's collection of war letters, directed by John Benitz. This production took her to esteemed venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles, the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, and the Martha's Vineyard Performing Arts Center.
She has shared the stage with an impressive array of actors, including Annette Bening, Laura Dern, Gary Cole, Mary Steenburgen, Ed Asner, Kate Mansi, and Common, to name a few.
Before pursuing her passion for the arts, Monique spent 13 years volunteering with the youth-arts organization Voices in Harmony, mentoring at-risk youth in the Los Angeles area. This experience led her to travel to Northern Uganda, where she worked with youth in war-torn areas, which was chronicled in the award-winning documentary "After Kony: Staging Hope". Subsequently, Monique traveled to Washington D.C. with Resolve Uganda to advocate for peace in Northern Uganda.
Early in her career, Monique worked on several acclaimed shows, including How I Met Your Mother, Rizzoli & Isles, and The Social Network. She gained widespread recognition for her recurring roles as Nurse Laurel Canyon on the critically acclaimed Chicago Hope and as Teena Davis in Steven Bochco's Philly.
In 2014, Monique debuted her celebrated cabaret show "Swallow The Moon" at the legendary Gardenia Room in Los Angeles.
Her extensive stage credits include "If All the Sky Were Paper" with Annette Bening, Gary Cole, Common, and Laura Dern; performed at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Los Angeles, The Kennedy Center, and the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara, CA; "My Child: Mothers of War" with Frances Fisher, Melina Kanakaredes, Mimi Rogers, and Jean Smart; the award-winning "Adam & Eva Maria" and "The Emerald Society". Monique received a nomination for Best Actress from the ADA for her work in "The Emerald Society".
