Mugga, a Brooklyn native, embarked on a remarkable journey in the entertainment industry, showcasing her remarkable comedic flair in dramatic roles. Her early beginnings in acting saw her studying with esteemed instructors such as Tracey Moore, Joanna Beckson, Paul Calderon, and many others.
It was on a dare that Mugga first ventured into stand-up comedy, and her talent quickly caught the attention of Def Comedy Jam scout Bob Sumner. She soon received a series of high-profile stand-up gigs, catapulting her to the forefront of the comedy scene. These notable performances included DEF COMEDY JAM, SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO, BET'S COMIC VIEW 3X, and BBC'S CLUB CLASS, garnering her glowing reviews, including a feature in the New York Times.
Mugga's stand-up comedy success led to a whirlwind of opportunities, including touring with DEF JAM and COMEDY TROUPE SWG, a UK-based comedy troupe, as well as performing with SISTAHS WITH GAGS, among others. This surge in popularity enabled her to return to her acting pursuits, armed with a newfound confidence and skillset.
Her love of acting eventually led her to audition for Lee Daniels' Oscar-winning film Precious, where she landed the memorable role of the restaurant worker whose chicken was "stolen" by Precious.
Mugga continued to hone her craft while maintaining an active presence in the stand-up comedy world. Her breakthrough role came when she landed the SAG-award winning part of Reema Pell in the groundbreaking Netflix Original Series Orange Is The New Black. She subsequently secured a major recurring role on NBC's cult hit Manifest as Bethany Collins, the lovable attendant from the fateful flight.
As her acting career continued to soar, Mugga consistently booked major roles in high-profile TV shows such as Bull, Power, Homeland, Blue Bloods, High Maintenance, and many more. She also made a mark on the big screen in Blumhouse' dystopian action franchise The First Purge.
