Biography

Myrl Schreibman embarked on a multifaceted career, commencing as a child actor with The Cleveland Playhouse, where he appeared in notable productions such as "Critics Choice" and "Sunrise at Campobello". During his teenage years, he worked extensively in theater throughout Ohio, participating in shows like "The Music Man" (starring Bobby Vinton),"Finian's Rainbow", and "Best Foot Forward" (starring Paul Petersen).

He then pursued further education, studying with the renowned Uta Hagen at The Herbert Berghof Studios in New York, where he honed his acting skills, taking classes from esteemed instructors such as Stella Adler. Subsequently, he enrolled at UCLA, earning a Bachelor's degree in Theater with a specialization in Film and Television, alongside notable classmates Rob Reiner, Jim Morrison, Allen Daviau, Colin Higgins, Dan Gordon, Jeff Margolis, and Louis J. Horvitz.

Schreibman continued his academic pursuits, pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theater with a specialization in Film and Television at UCLA, a program that only accepted four candidates annually. During this time, he studied under faculty members Norman Jewison, James Wong Howe, Norman Corwin, Viola Spolin, and Marcel Marceau, and had the opportunity to observe legendary film director Jack Arnold.

Upon graduating from UCLA, Schreibman continued his studies under the mentorship of Jack Arnold, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of producing, including a stint as a cost controller at Samuel Goldwyn Studios. He also produced his first feature film at the age of 28.

Throughout his career, Schreibman has been driven by a passion for storytelling and performance, which has led him to various stops along the way. He has written "The Indie Producers Handbook, Creative Producing from A to Z", and has worked as a faculty member and administrator at UCLA, Cal State University-Northridge, and Moorpark College.

As a director, Schreibman has worked extensively in theater, film, and television, and was the first to bring cinematic visual techniques to the concert stage. His work has been characterized by a focus on performance and storytelling, and he has developed a cold-reading technique that is now used by hundreds of actors. Today, Schreibman continues to work in the entertainment industry, with new projects and endeavors emerging along the way.
