Nailea Norvind is a renowned Mexican actress, nominated for the prestigious Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in La otra familia in 2011. With a career spanning over four decades, she has made a name for herself in film, television, and theatre, performing since the tender age of six.
Her stage debut came at the age of 12, when she starred in Ibsen's "A Doll House" under the direction of Dimitrios Sarras in Mexico City. This experience proved to be a defining moment, solidifying her passion for acting and vocation in life.
Nailea's film debut was at the age of seven, in the 1978 production "El Triangulo Diabolico de las Bermudas," opposite the legendary John Huston. She then relocated to New York with her mother, Eva Norvind, who was pursuing a degree in film at New York University. During this time, Nailea continued to hone her craft, studying at Carnegie Hall and working Off-Broadway in productions such as "Those Darn Kids" and "Genesis One."
At the age of 12, Nailea returned to Mexico, where she continued her pursuit of the arts. Televisa soon discovered her talent and placed her under contract to star in numerous highly acclaimed telenovelas, establishing her as one of Mexico's most respected young actresses. Some of her notable telenovelas include Quinceanera, Cuando llega el Amor, Amor Gitano, Abrazame muy Fuerte, Amigas y Rivales, and Rebelde.
In 1988, Nailea was appointed Televisa's Cultural Ambassador to promote Mexican television in China. As a theatre actress, she has performed in a range of productions, including musicals such as "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Kuman," "Jesus Christ Superstar," and "Robin Hood," in which she played the role of Princess Marianne.
Nailea's extensive theatre credits also include performances in plays such as "Butterflies are Free," "Honour," "Muerte Subita" by Sabina Berman, "Opcion Multiple" by Luis Mario Moncada, and "Electra or The Fall of the Masks" by Marguerite Yourcenar. In 2008, she will perform in "Terror and Misery of the Third Reich" by Bertolt Brecht.
Nailea's film credits include "Gaby a True Story," opposite Liv Ullman and Norma Aleandro, as well as the Spanish voice of Princess Kida in Disney's "Atlantis." She has also appeared in the documentary film "Didn't do it for Love" (1997),which explores her mother's life and career.
In addition to her impressive acting career, Nailea holds a Master's degree in Art History and is a certified yoga instructor. She is also an accomplished Argentine tango dancer, showcasing her talents in various productions and events.
