Natalie Cole, the daughter of legendary singer Nat "King" Cole, was born on February 6, 1950, in Los Angeles' exclusive Hancock Park area. Growing up surrounded by music, she began singing on her father's Christmas album and performing by the age of 11. After her father's early death, the family relocated to Massachusetts, and Natalie attended the University of Massachusetts, majoring in child psychology.
However, Natalie's life took a different turn when she decided to pursue a career in music. She began performing at various night spots, eventually falling into drug addiction. Her breakthrough came with the release of her debut album "Inseparable" in 1975, which included the hit single "This Will Be."
Natalie's career was marked by both success and struggles. She released several platinum and gold albums, including "Sophisticated Lady" and "I've Got Love on My Mind," but also struggled with drug addiction and personal relationships. In 1991, she released the album "Unforgettable...with Love," which paid homage to her father and featured a technological duet with him on the title track.
The album was a huge success, selling over 30 million copies and earning Natalie several Grammy Awards. She continued to release successful albums, including "Still Unforgettable," which featured duets with her father on several tracks.
