Person Biography:
Born in Mumbai, India, and raised in Nigeria until the age of seven, Anita Contractor developed a unique perspective on world cultures from a young age. She spent her childhood in Toronto, Canada, where she excelled academically and trained as a classical ballerina.
Contractor attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a specialized public arts high school, where she studied both dance and theater. After nearly a decade of dance, she realized her passion for acting and pursued a master's degree in theater and double majors in psychology and sociology at the University of Toronto.
Contractor's breakthrough came when she landed the lead role in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival's production of Pericles, which earned her rave reviews and a spot in the company's conservatory program. She went on to appear in several productions with the company, including A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Contractor made the transition to film and television, booking roles in the FOX pilot "The Dictator" and the Canadian drama "The Border." She earned a Golden Nymph Award for her performance in "The Border" and later starred in the hit FOX series "24" and the CBS series "Rules of Engagement."
Contractor's film credits include "Seance: The Summoning" and "Star Trek Into Darkness." In her free time, she enjoys running, yoga, and traveling, often by motorcycle. She is a strong supporter of the organizations Second Harvest and Look Good Feel Better and lives in the Los Angeles area with her husband, son, and border terrier.
