Born Ronald Braunstein, in the vibrant city of Brooklyn, New York, in a neighborhood that would shape his future, the Glenwood Housing Projects, nestled in the Flatbush/Canarsie section of Brooklyn. This is where Necro, the renowned hardcore hip-hop artist, would emerge, later becoming the owner of the independent record label, Psycho+Logical-Records, founded in 1999. The label would serve as a platform for releasing his own solo albums, as well as those of other talented artists.
As a child, Ron Braunstein, aka Necro, had an early fascination with music, picking up the guitar at the tender age of nine. By eleven, he was already performing on stage with a band, frequently playing at iconic clubs like L'Amour, opening for bigger acts.
However, his educational journey was marked by turmoil. Attending South Shore High School until 10th grade, Ron was eventually kicked out due to his constant fighting. At the age of sixteen, he turned to a life of selling drugs, even going so far as to create business cards for his customers.
But fate had other plans. When his father refused to fund his film school aspirations, Ron invested his drug money in two film courses and one acting course at Brooklyn College at the age of eighteen. During this time, he focused more on directing, creating two short, silent, 70s-themed films shot on super 8 and 16mm film, both funded by his drug earnings.
Over a decade would pass before Ron revisited his acting ambitions. He then enrolled in The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, where he connected with teacher and legendary actor Paul Calderon, who taught Acting For Film. Ron credits Paul with understanding his street sense, as Paul himself hails from the New York City streets. Paul recognized Ron's potential within the first three months of learning, a testament to Ron's dedication and natural talent.
This inspiration, combined with great teaching, has driven Ron to pursue his dream of becoming a respected and genuine actor in the drama field, a mission he continues to pursue with unwavering ambition.
