Robert Neil MacGregor, a renowned British art historian, has had a distinguished career spanning multiple decades. Born on June 16, 1946, MacGregor's professional journey began with his tenure as the editor of the esteemed Burlington Magazine from 1981 to 1987.
Subsequently, he took on the role of Director of the National Gallery, London, from 1987 to 2002, where he oversaw the curation and management of the gallery's vast collection of Western European art.
In 2002, MacGregor assumed the position of Director of the British Museum, a role he held until 2015. During his time at the British Museum, he played a significant part in shaping the institution's direction and programming.
