Nellie, a multifaceted talent, initially made a name for herself as a film and television actress in Los Angeles, before relocating to New York where she dedicated herself to the art of directing and producing plays.
It was in 1998 that Nellie stumbled upon a play called "The Man Who Was Peter Pan," penned by her fellow 42nd Street WorkShop member, Allan Knee. She envisioned the story as a film and, after optioning the play, collaborated with then unknown writer David Magee to adapt the screenplay.
Nellie's tireless efforts, supported by a team of dedicated individuals, including Tracey Becker, Michelle Sy, Joan Scott, and Marti Blumenthal, ultimately led to the film's placement at Miramax Films, where Harvey Weinstein recognized its potential.
In 2002, the film "Finding Neverland" was shot on location in London, starring the talented duo of Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. The movie premiered in Los Angeles in late October 2004 and received widespread critical acclaim, garnering a total of seven Oscar nominations and eleven BAFTA award nominations among others.
Since then, Nellie has continued to thrive as a producer, bringing "Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day" to the big screen and, following her return to Los Angeles in 2013, has several projects in various stages of development, including "Road to Oz" by Josh Golden at New Line, in association with fellow producer Beau Flynn.
