Nicholas Eliopoulos is a renowned figure in the entertainment industry, boasting an impressive career spanning over three decades. His multifaceted talents have been recognized in various areas, including writing, directing, producing, and film and sound editing, with some of his work showcased in prominent Hollywood venues.
Eliopoulos has recently completed his fourth feature documentary, CELEBRATING LAUGHTER, THE LIFE AND FILMS OF COLIN HIGGINS. He has also produced, edited, and directed three previous acclaimed feature documentaries, including MARY PICKFORD, MUSE OF THE MOVIES, which premiered on Turner Classic Movies and won the Best Film Award at the Universal Film Festival.
Additionally, Eliopoulos produced, edited, and directed RUSSIA, A CENTURY OF CHANGE, a documentary that explores the former Soviet Union from the time of the Tsars to the fall of Communism, featuring interviews with the late Boris Yeltsin and Mikhail Gorbachev. His first feature documentary, VISIONS OF A NEW WORLD, highlights the visions of nine positive thinkers for the future, narrated by Marsha Mason and featuring Ted Danson.
Eliopoulos has received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including an Emmy Award, an Honorary Satellite Award from the International Press Academy, two Golden Reel Awards, and three Golden Scissors Awards. He has worked on a variety of notable projects, including feature films such as OUT OF AFRICA, NINE TO FIVE, BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, and assisted on the Emmy-nominated mini-series OUT ON A LIMB.
As a motion picture film editor, Eliopoulos has edited a range of projects, including the "nine camera" 35mm theatrical comedy concert film RUN TEL DAT for Martin Lawrence, as well as the successful NBC series LAW AND ORDER, CRIMINAL INTENT and DEADLINE. He has also directed the half-hour special THE HEART OF HEARTBEAT for MTV, starring Whoopi Goldberg, Willy Nelson, and Bonnie Raitt.
Eliopoulos has served as Vice President of Production and Development for the Don Johnson Company at Universal Studios, developing scripts for the two-hour television movie MOTHERSHIP, the anti-drug special THE LAST CARTOON, and the half-hour sitcom pilot FLIPSIDE for NBC.
He has also edited the comedy feature film WOO for Executive Producer John Singleton, starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Tommy Davidson, and Dave Chappelle. Eliopoulos has edited six original cable movies for BET PICTURES, as well as the first feature film introducing actress Angelina Jolie, LOVE IS ALL THERE IS.
Furthermore, Eliopoulos has produced and directed the animated short FLY ME TO THE MOON for GATEWAYS TO SPACE, featuring Nancy Cartwright, which was considered for Academy Award consideration as Best Animated Short. He has also served as Animation Supervisor for the "hit" movie NINE TO FIVE and is currently developing a feature animated film CYBERHOP, An Ultimate Hip Hop Dance Party in Outer Space, which he co-wrote with Bradley Rapier.
Eliopoulos holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech and Drama from the University of Kansas and was a two-year editing fellow at the American Film Institute. He is an active voting member of the Oscar-Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Emmy-Television Academy, and is a member of the Motion Picture Editor's Guild.
