Biography

Nicholas is a renowned and accomplished screenwriter, with a diverse range of expertise in various genres, including film and television. For 18 months, he collaborated with Echo Lake Entertainment, an Oscar-winning production company, to develop a television series based on one of his award-winning screenplays. Additionally, he spent 12 months as part of the UK writing team at Fabelizer, an Indian animation company.

Throughout his career, Nicholas has been a finalist in numerous international writing competitions, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. His screenplay "Lancelot" won the Grand Prize in the 2013 Big Break contest, earning him a trip to Los Angeles to receive an award at the Screenwriter's Choice Awards at Paramount Studios. Furthermore, the script won the Gold Prize in the PAGE International Awards and received praise from Simon Kinberg, writer and producer of the "X-Men" films and "Sherlock Holmes," as well as leading to meetings with Bryan Singer's Bad Hat Harry Productions and J.J. Abram's Bad Robot.

Nicholas's horror script "The Good People" made the 2011 Brit List, while his script "Knight Knight" came second in the 2007 Big Break contest, with judges including the writers of "Starman," "Stand By Me," and "Goldeneye."

In addition to his writing accomplishments, Nicholas has received guidance from industry professionals. He spent a year on Guiding Lights, a film mentoring scheme sponsored by Working Title and the BFI, where he was mentored by Tony Grisoni, writer of "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas," "Tideland," and "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote." He also participated in the UK Film Council's feature development program, receiving development assistance for "Gurk The Slayer!," which also earned him a place on the London Screenwriters' Festival's advanced mentoring lab with Disney/Pixar writer David Reynolds, creator of "Finding Nemo." The script was later optioned by Aardman Animations' former Head of Development.

Nicholas has also been selected for prestigious workshops and programs. He participated in Torino Film Lab's AdaptLab, a novel adaptation workshop, which took place in Lyon, Gentofte, and Turin. In 2011, he was selected for FilmFyn's "Screenwriting for Writers and Producers" workshop, held in Odense, Denmark, run by Brendan Foley, writer of "The Riddle," and Hollywood veteran Ned Dowd, writer of "The Last Of The Mohicans" and "Apocalypto."

Nicholas's short films have also gained recognition. "That Thing You Drew" premiered at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, winning the Jury Prize at Malta's Kinemastik and the Audience Award at the Warsaw film festival. His short film "Funday," which he wrote and executive produced, was nominated for a Welsh BAFTA for best short film.
