Nick is a multifaceted individual who has excelled in various creative fields, including acting, writing, producing, and directing. Born in Melbourne, Australia, to Greek immigrant parents, he spent most of his childhood in the inner Melbourne suburbs of Fitzroy and Richmond, where he attended Abbotsford Primary School and Richmond High School.
He completed his HSC at Taylors College in 1980 and was subsequently accepted into the Drama course at Rusden State College, where he also majored in Media Studies with a focus on Film. However, he left Rusden halfway through his course to audition for and gain acceptance into the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts' Drama School, from which he graduated in 1985 with a degree in Dramatic Arts.
Nick's early career saw him tour Australia with the ethnic comedy stage show "Wogs Out Of Work" (1987-1990),which he co-wrote and produced, and which played to over 750,000 people. He also starred in the TV sitcom "Acropolis Now" (1989-1992) for five seasons, creating and co-writing the show alongside his work as a lead actor.
Throughout the 1990s, Nick continued to tour Australia with various stage productions, including "The Heartbreak Kid" (1990),"Acropolis Now Live" (1990-1991),and "Wog-A-Rama" (1993-1995). He also appeared in the David Atkins production of the musical "Grease" (1991) as Danny Zuko.
The early 2000s saw Nick tour Australia with "Wogboys" (1996-1998),which he wrote, produced, and directed, and he also starred in the feature film "The Wog Boy" (1999),which he co-wrote and produced. The film went on to gross over 12 million dollars at the Australian box office, becoming one of the most popular Australian films of all time.
Nick's subsequent projects included "Wog Story" (2000-2002),"The Wannabes" (2003),and the TV special "Greece Is The Word" (2004),which he hosted and produced. He has also developed a new comedy series, "Get Nicked," which was commissioned by the Seven Network but unfortunately canceled before production.
In addition to his numerous awards, including two Mo Awards for Best Comedy Performer of the Year and the Australian Movie Exhibitors Convention's Comedy Star of the Year award, Nick has been announced as the host of the new variety/talent show "The Singing Office" on Fox 8, set to premiere in September 2007.
