Nick Raio, a native New Yorker, was raised in the Bronx and currently divides his time between New York City and South Florida. The artistic side of Nick didn't emerge until his mid-30s, following 13 years of working as a New York State Prison guard, where he held positions at institutions such as Matteawan State Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
After recognizing that his career choice was misguided, Nick transitioned into real estate sales and began working in local theater, Vassar College films, interactive dinner theater, and Japanese TV productions, which filmed reenactments of American news stories in the Hudson Valley area of New York State, where he resided at the time.
Nick experienced an epiphany when he started receiving payment for his acting work and decided that acting was his true calling. Following an amicable divorce, he relocated back to New York City and earned his union cards.
Examples of Nick's acting, writing, and performing his own work can be found on his website. His play, "Sheila and Angelo," was accepted into the 2016 NYC International Fringe Festival, featuring SAG award winner Dan Grimaldi as Angelo, and enjoyed a sold-out run in August 2016 at the IATI Theater in NYC.
Nick hopes to see his play performed in more theaters across the country and is actively pursuing this possibility.
