Nico Rosberg's journey in motor sports began at a young age, as the son of Formula 1 world champion Keke Rosberg. Despite his father's initial reservations about the dangers of racing, Nico's passion for motor sports was ignited early on. At the tender age of six, Nico started karting, and by 1996, he was competing in regional karting championships, winning one of them.
As he grew older, Nico graduated to the "Formula A" series, marking his debut in active motor sport. In 2000, he became the European runner-up in Formula A, and by 2001, he was competing in the superordinate "Formula Super A" world championship. His father, Keke Rosberg, recognized Nico's immense talent and began to provide him with intensive support.
Nico's next move was to the BMW/ADAC series, where he drove for his father's team and won the championship in his first year. He then made the jump to the "Formula 3 Euroseries" in 2003, where he enjoyed numerous successes until 2004. At the age of 17, Nico became the youngest driver to be admitted to testing with a "Formula 1" team.
In 2005, Nico started racing for "ART Grand Prix" in the "GP2" series, finishing as champion in the penultimate race in Bahrain. This achievement garnered him significant media attention, and he was soon snapped up by the top British team "Williams" for a five-year contract. With the team supplied by Cosworth engines from the 2006 season, Nico was one of the most popular young talents in international motor sport.
Nico's next move was to Mercedes Grand Prix, where he competed alongside Michael Schumacher from 2010. In 2016, he became the third German Formula 1 world champion, beating his team colleague Lewis Hamilton. Shortly after this achievement, Nico announced his retirement from active motor sport.
