Biography

Nicole Joy-Fraser, a multifaceted and talented individual, hails from Niagara and identifies as Tsa'tinée, Nehiyaw, Métis/ Settler. As a registered member of Horse Lake First Nation in Northern Alberta, she embodies a rich cultural heritage.

With over two decades of experience in storytelling for stage and screen, Nicole has had the privilege of sharing her talents across Turtle Island and beyond. Her impressive resume boasts collaborations with renowned companies such as The Stratford Festival, The Shaw, Mirvish, Soulpepper, Theatre Aquarius, CBC, CBS, BBC, and Telefilm.

As a proud 2Spirit individual, Nicole proudly claims her identity as a Bear clan matriarch and Hand drum carrier. Her experiences as a 60's scoop witness have also deeply shaped her perspectives and passions. Nicole is deeply committed to supporting and uplifting her community through the healing power of the Indigenous arts.

Grateful for the guidance and wisdom of the Aniishnaabeg and Haudenosaunee communities, Nicole continues to honor her urban Indigenous reclamation journey. Her story is a testament to the resilience and strength of Indigenous peoples, and her work serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of cultural preservation and celebration.
