Nikea was raised in Los Angeles, where she developed a passion for entertainment from a young age. As the daughter of a single mother who encouraged her creativity, Nikea began putting on shows in her bedroom and singing into her jump rope. She was always destined for greatness, and her talent was recognized by her peers and mentors alike.
Nikea's early career began with modeling and gospel musicals at her church, where she often took on lead roles. She continued to hone her craft at Jackson State University, where she studied Mass Communications and minored in drama. After college, she landed roles in several plays, including "The Colored Museum," and hosted her own television show on the local channel W23BC.
After graduating, Nikea pursued a career in stand-up comedy, performing at prestigious clubs like the Comedy Store and the Improv. However, she eventually realized that she needed to make a living and took a job at the William Morris Agency. Although she enjoyed her work, she eventually realized that acting was her true passion and quit her job to pursue it full-time.
Nikea enrolled in acting classes with Aaron Speiser, where she fell in love with acting all over again. She worked her way up to the master class and began taking cold reading classes. However, her journey was put on hold when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. She took a three-year hiatus to focus on her health and treatment.
During her time away from acting, Nikea reconnected with her half-sisters, Shavonne and Candace Turner, and they have since become close. Nikea's experience with cancer gave her a newfound sense of purpose and drive, and she has since become an advocate for breast cancer awareness and breast health.
Today, Nikea is a successful actress, comedian, and advocate. She has starred in several stage plays around Los Angeles, and has had guest spots on TV shows like American Idol. She is also a member of the award-winning all-female African American sketch group Elite Delta Force 3, and has worked on several projects, including a viral video parodying the Real Housewives of the Civil Rights. Nikea is currently six years cancer-free and continues to pursue her passions in entertainment and advocacy.
