Nikita Mikhalkov, a renowned filmmaker and actor, is the son of Sergey Mikhalkov, a prominent communist poet who penned the lyrics to the Soviet national anthem and maintained strong ties to the Communist Party. Mikhalkov's mother, Natalya Petrovna Konchalovskaya, was a poet in her own right and the daughter of famous painter Pyotr Petrovich Konchalovsky and his wife Olga Vasilievna Surikova. Additionally, she was the great-granddaughter of celebrated painter Vasily Surikov.
Notably, Mikhalkov is also the brother of acclaimed film director Andrei Konchalovsky, who has worked in the United States, in contrast to Nikita's focus on Russian cinema.
