Biography

Nina Sallinen is a multitalented professional actress, singer, and artist, boasting a diverse and extensive career spanning over two decades. Born and raised in Sweden and Finland, she received her Master's degree from the renowned National Theater Academy of Finland.

Throughout her career, Nina has performed in over 80 theater productions, showcasing her exceptional skills and versatility in various roles. Her impressive repertoire includes performances in Finland, the United States, and Europe, with notable appearances in Helsinki, Lahti, Tampere, Jyvaskyla, Lappeeranta, Los Angeles, Chicago, Brooklyn, Ojai, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Ohio.

Nina has had the privilege of working with some of the most prominent theater companies and directors in the industry. In Finland, she has performed at the National Theater, The Workers Theater in Tampere, Theater Jurkka, The Q Theater, Aurinko Theater, and Lahti City Theater, among others. Her notable roles include a series regular on two popular TV shows, Jaita Hattuun and Kolmannen Korvapuusti, alongside Finland's most well-known TV stars.

After relocating to the United States, Nina co-founded The Walk About Theater Company in Chicago, where she premiered her one-woman show, Poor Poor Lear, to great acclaim. The show received rave reviews and was performed for three more runs in Chicago, earning Nina several awards and nominations. Her subsequent performances in Los Angeles include her critically acclaimed role as Uncle Scrooze in Lit Moon's production of Humbug, earning her a Santa Barbara Independent Theater Award and two Bitola Monodrama Awards.

Nina has been recognized for her outstanding performances in various productions, including her role as Frankie Boy in Conquest of The Southpole, produced by The Odyssey Theatre, for which she received a nomination for best supporting female performance by L.A Weekly. She has also been nominated for her role in Philip Ridley's play Mercury Fur, produced by Need Theater Company, for best ensemble by L.A Stage Alliance, and for her performance in Way to Heaven, produced by Odyssey Theater, for best production and ensemble by LA Weekly and Critics Choice.

Nina has collaborated with esteemed companies and artists, including the band Sparks in their musical The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman, performed at the Ford Amphitheater for the LA Film Festival as their live event. Her other notable performances include works with The Odyssey Theater Ensemble, Need Theater, Geffen Playhouse, Green Light Theater Company, Whitefire Theater Company, and The Road Theater Company.

As a testament to her dedication and passion for the arts, Nina is a member of the Helsinki West Theater Company, Whitefire, Odyssey, Road, and Celebration theater companies in Los Angeles, solidifying her position as a respected and accomplished artist in the industry.
