Nina was born in London to a Nigerian father and an English mother. She received her training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, concurrently earning A-levels in Performing Arts. Her early career was marked by appearances in notable productions, including Desdemona in "Othello", Olivia in "Twelfth Night", Hermia in "A Midsummer Night's Dream", and the title role in "Educating Rita".
Nina's subsequent work saw her join the Royal Shakespeare Company, where she took on roles in "Henry V", "The White Devil", "The Learned Ladies", and "Herbal Bed". Her performances at the National Theatre included "Anthony & Cleopatra" and "House and Garden", followed by "The Marriage of Figaro" at the Royal Exchange.
In addition to her stage work, Nina has made numerous appearances on television, including roles in "People Like Us" (1999),"Teachers" (2001),"The Jury" (2002),"The Three Gamblers" (2000),and "Prime Suspect 2" (1992). Her recent projects include "Human Trade" (2003) alongside Martin Kemp and John Duttine, and Richard Curtis's new film "Love Actually" (2003) featuring Hugh Grant. Nina will also be appearing in "The Vortex" at the Donmar Warehouse until February 2003.
