Biography

Norman Westberg, a renowned guitarist hailing from the Motor City of Detroit, has made a lasting impact on the music world, particularly through his affiliation with the influential post-punk collective, Swans.

Throughout the band's extensive history, Westberg has been an integral part of the group's sonic evolution, first joining the lineup for their debut album, Filth, released in 1983. He went on to contribute to every subsequent album, a streak that continued uninterrupted until 1991's critically acclaimed White Light from the Mouth of Infinity.

In addition to his work on the aforementioned album, Westberg also lent his talents to the 1995 release, The Great Annihilator. His dedication to the band's creative vision was unwavering, and his contributions helped shape the distinctive sound that Swans is known for.

Following a hiatus, Westberg rejoined the band in 2010, when Michael Gira reactivated Swans, marking a triumphant return for the guitarist. His reunion with the group marked a new chapter in his storied career, as he once again became an integral part of the band's sound and creative direction.
