Octavus Roy Cohen, a renowned European-American author, made his entry into the world in 1891, within the borders of South Carolina. His educational journey began at the esteemed Porter Military Academy, a prestigious institution that would later undergo a transformation, evolving into the exclusive Porter-Gaud School. As his academic pursuits continued, Cohen went on to attend Clemson University, where he further honed his knowledge and skills.

Between the years 1910 and 1912, this individual embarked upon a professional journey, venturing into the realm of editorial departments, where he honed his skills and expertise in esteemed publications such as the Birmingham Ledger, the Charleston News and Courier, the Bayonne Times, and the Newark Morning Star.

Throughout his fictional career, Hanvey's character was featured prominently in a series of short stories published in The Saturday Evening Post, alongside some of Cohen's most notable and enduring works.
