Oksana Baiul, a renowned Ukrainian figure skater, was born in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, to parents Sergei and Marina Baiul, who later divorced when she was just two years old. Her mother and grandparents raised Oksana, and when she was ten, her grandparents passed away. Three years later, at the age of thirteen, her mother died of ovarian cancer, leaving Oksana alone.
Despite these challenges, Oksana discovered her passion for figure skating at a young age, receiving her first pair of ice skates from her grandfather when she was just three years old. By the time she was seven, she had already won her first competition, and the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation took notice of her unique talent.
Oksana's natural ability and artistry on the ice led her to become a world-class figure skater, winning the 1993 World Championship and the 1994 Olympic Gold Medal at the age of sixteen. Her victory in Lillehammer made her a global sensation, and she went on to headline figure skating tours and competitions around the world, including the ISU European Tour and the Tom Collins Tour of World Figure Skating Champions.
Oksana's success on the ice was matched by her success off the ice, as she became a household name and a true entertainer. She has been profiled in several televised bio specials, including Lifetime and A&E's Networks, and has appeared on numerous television shows and movies.
