Omer Fast, a contemporary video artist and filmmaker, was born in Jerusalem in 1972 and spent his formative years in Israel and Jericho, New York, USA. He is known for his innovative multichannel video installations that expertly blend documentary, dramatization, and fantasy to create a unique and captivating visual experience.
Fast's feature film debut, Remainder, premiered in the 'Panorama' section of the 66th Berlin International Film Festival in 2016. His academic background includes a BA/BFA from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts, which he earned in 1995, and an MFA from Hunter College, which he received in 2000.
Throughout his career, Fast has received numerous honors and accolades, including the Preis der Nationalgalerie für junge Kunst in 2009, the Bucksbaum Award in 2008, and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Prize in 2003. His work has been showcased in numerous prominent exhibitions worldwide, including the Rose Art Museum, Imperial War Museum, London, Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Musée d'Art Contemporain, Montréal, the Power Plant, Dallas Museum of Art, Wexner Center for the Arts, Documenta, Taipei Biennial, Venice Biennale, Singapore Biennial, Cleveland Museum of Art, Berkeley Art Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Performa, Liverpool Biennial, Whitney Biennial, Museum of Modern Art, Vienna, Carnegie Museum, Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, and Frankfurter Kunstverein, Frankfurt.
