Otto Buj, a self-taught filmmaker, was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on March 12th, 1969. He is an artschool dropout who has established himself as a prominent figure in the film industry.
Buj is based in Windsor, Ontario, and has made a significant impact on the local film scene. From 1991 to 1997, he founded and programmed the Kinotek Film Society, a respected platform that showcased rare and independent films in the Windsor-Detroit area.
In addition to his work with the Kinotek Film Society, Buj has also curated an exhibition titled "Representing Cinema and the Art of the Film Poster." This exhibition features rare and original film posters from his personal collection and has been traveling to twelve venues across Canada. The exhibition is set to expand in May 2006 and will be circulated to international venues, accompanied by a comprehensive publication.
Buj's feature-length film, "The Eternal Present," was completed in 2004. This independent production was written, directed, produced, edited, conformed, and financed entirely by the filmmaker himself. Prior to this, he completed a short film titled "Population Control" in 1991.
