Otto Sanchez, a native New Yorker, grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Jackson Heights, Queens, where he was raised by his mother, Violeta Carbajal. As the youngest of four siblings, including an older brother and two older sisters, Otto's upbringing was filled with creativity and passion. His earliest connection to the arts was through painting, which would later become a significant influence on his artistic journey.
After completing his studies in Advertising Design at the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City from 1987 to 1989, Otto further honed his skills at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, on a fine arts scholarship. During this period, his passion for the arts shifted, and he began to explore the world of acting.
Upon returning to New York in 1991, Otto enrolled in acting classes under the guidance of renowned instructors Jeanne Kaplan and Austin Pendleton at HB Studio. His hard work and dedication eventually led to his breakthrough role as Chico Guerra on the critically acclaimed HBO series Oz in 1997. This role catapulted him to prominence, landing him parts in both film and television.
Otto's filmography boasts an impressive range, from independent features to commercially successful studio productions. Some of his notable film credits include Carlos in Bad Boys II (2003),Negrito in Kill the Poor (2003),Ping Pong in Double Whammy (2003),and Paul Diaz in Push (2003).
Beyond his work in film and television, Otto is no stranger to the stage. In 2004, he co-starred alongside John Ventimiglia in the critically acclaimed three-man Off-Broadway play Ponies, produced by Michael Imperioli at the Studio Dante in New York City. Otto's portrayal of Wallace in this production showcased his versatility and talent as a stage actor.
