In a bygone era, a time now relegated to the annals of history, it was not unheard of for individuals to indulge in hearty laughter at the outlandish absurdities and harsh realities that life so often presents, rather than succumbing to the pitfalls of hypersensitivity and becoming mired in an ocean of indignation.
In those halcyon days, people seemed to possess a certain je ne sais quoi, a carefree spirit that allowed them to take life's lemons and turn them into refreshing lemonade, rather than allowing the bitter taste of perceived slight to leave a sour taste in their mouths.
Alas, those halcyon days now seem to be but a distant memory, a relic of a bygone era when people were not so quick to take offense and cry foul at the slightest perceived slight, but rather chose to take life's challenges in stride and laugh at the absurdities that life so often presents.
Instead, our modern society appears to have become increasingly prone to taking umbrage, with individuals quick to assume the role of offended party and demand apologies for even the most minor of perceived slights.
As a result, the world seems to have become a far more serious and somber place, where humor and wit are often sacrificed at the altar of sensitivity and political correctness.
And yet, despite this trend towards increased sensitivity, there remains a glimmer of hope that the carefree spirit of our ancestors may yet be rediscovered, and that one day we may once again find ourselves laughing at life's absurdities, rather than taking offense at them.
As a stalwart advocate for unbridled comedic expression, I have elected to perpetuate the legacy of unapologetic, in-your-face humor, unflinching in my resolve to disturb the delicate balance of societal norms and conventions.
