Patricia Owens, a talented actress born in Golden, British Columbia, Canada, in the year 1925, began her journey in the world of stage plays at the tender age of eight when she moved to England with her family. It was during this time that she caught the attention of a Twentieth Century-Fox executive, who subsequently offered her a contract, paving the way for her entry into the world of Hollywood in 1956.
Upon arriving in Hollywood, Patricia met Sy Bartlett, whom she would later marry in 1957, only to divorce in 1958. Her breakthrough performance came in 1957 when she starred alongside Marlon Brando in the classic film "Sayonara," playing the role of the distraught and scorned fiancée of Brando. Her portrayal earned her critical acclaim, solidifying her position as a rising star in the industry.
However, it was her iconic performance as the tormented Helene Delambre in the 1958 film "The Fly" that cemented her status as a science fiction legend. The unforgettable image of her seen through the fly's compound eyes remains one of the most enduring moments in the history of science fiction films.
Throughout the 1960s, Patricia continued to appear in various films and television shows, although she never quite achieved the level of success she had hoped for. Her personal life was marked by several marriages, including a brief union with real estate developer Jerome "Jerry" Nathanson, with whom she had her only child, Adam. Adam assisted in compiling this biography.
In 1969, Patricia married John Austin, with whom she remained until 1975. Sadly, her life was cut short in 2000 when she succumbed to cancer, leaving behind a legacy of memorable performances and a devoted family.
