Patrick's life took a significant turn after completing Grade Three at Primary school, as he relocated to Andersontown, West Belfast, due to the illness of his grandparents. He spent six years in this new environment before making the move back to Melbourne in August 1999.
Despite his initial struggles to establish an acting career in Ireland, it was only due to his parents' encouragement that he decided to pursue it in Australia. He had a few guest roles on Blue Heelers and The Saddle Club in 2001, as well as a commercial for Red Rooster, before landing the role of Connor O'Neill on the iconic Australian television show Neighbours in 1985.
Patrick's hard work and dedication were recognized with a Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent in 2003. After departing Neighbours, he spent time in the UK, where he worked on several pantomimes and appeared on the West End in 'Vegemite Tales'.
Patrick's UK television credits include 'The Vibe' for Channel 4 and 'Give my Head Peace' for BBC Northern Ireland. He has also written, produced, directed, and acted in several productions for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, including 'Great Procrastinations' in 2005, 'Who Wears the Pants?' in 2006, 'Table for Two' in 2007, and 'Antics' in 2008.
Other notable credits include 'Valentine's Day' for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, 'Rush' for Southern Star, and 'City Homicide' for the Seven Network. Patrick is also a regular voice-over artist and has appeared in several advertising campaigns and comedy pilots.
In 2010, he featured as Alvin in the film 'Bush Weed', directed by Craig Fox, and the music video 'The Wrong Brother' by Australian hip-hop artist Briggs. Two years later, Patrick returned to the stage, starring in a national tour of 'The Sum of Us' opposite John Jarratt, and reprised his role as Connor in 'Neighbours'.
