Patti Davis, born Patricia Ann Reagan on October 21, 1952, in Los Angeles, California, is often referred to as the black sheep of the Reagan family.
She gained fame for her liberal stance on abortion and her opposition to nuclear weapons, which led to a highly publicized rift between her and her parents, former President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan.
Patti wrote an autobiography, "The Way I See It," which presented a less-than-flattering portrayal of her family. The book contained revelations about her father's cold and distant demeanor, as well as accusations of physical abuse by her mother.
In her personal life, Patti was romantically involved with Bernie Leadon of the Eagles in the 1970s, and the two co-wrote the song "I Wish You Peace," which appeared on the Eagles' album "One of These Nights."
Patti married her yoga instructor Paul Grilley in 1984, but the couple divorced in 1990.
In the 1990s, she posed nude for Playboy Magazine and starred in the video Playboy Celebrity Centerfold: Patti Davis (1995).
As her parents aged and struggled with health issues, including her father's Alzheimer's disease, Patti reconciled with them. She wrote more flattering books about her father and was involved in various Reagan family initiatives, including efforts to support her father's legacy and to address the attempted assassination of John Hinckley Jr.
Patti also published columns and articles in numerous newspapers and magazines, and was active in promoting her family's legacy.
