He began his educational journey at the Melbourne Institute of Technology, where he pursued a degree in Applied Science with a strong focus on Drama and Marketing. This well-rounded foundation would later serve him well in his future endeavors.
As a young man of 21, Currie took the bold step of entering the Australian film industry, working on a variety of projects that honed his skills and provided valuable experience. His hard work and dedication eventually paid off when he earned his first producer credit on the film "Under the Gun," starring the talented Richard Norton.
In addition to his work in film, Currie also spent many years directing theater productions and training actors, a testament to his passion for the performing arts. His expertise and vision ultimately led him to make his directorial debut on the film "One Perfect Day," which received widespread critical acclaim and earned him the 2004 Australian Screen Directors' Association Award for Best Debut Film.
