Paul Hamy's journey in the entertainment industry began when he was still a teenager, after being spotted by renowned photographer Paolo Roversi. This encounter marked the start of his modeling career, with his first notable appearance in a Coca Cola advertisement, "The Chase", directed by Sébastien Chantrel in 2006.
Following his modeling stint, Hamy pursued his passion for cinema by studying the subject. He then co-founded the collective POK (PainOchoKolat) with friends, a group that brings together visual artists, photographers, videographers, DJs, musicians, designers, dancers, singers, and comedians.
Hamy's next notable appearance was in a Lacoste advertisement, but it was his breakthrough role in cinema that he had been dreaming of. He made his cinematic debut in 2013 with a small role in the TV series "Borgia", followed by a significant role in Emmanuelle Bercot's film "Elle s'en va", where he played Catherine Deneuve's one-night lover.
The same year, Hamy starred alongside Sara Forestier in Katell Quillévéré's film "Suzanne", which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and earned him a César nomination for Best Up-and-Coming Actor. These two consecutive films showcased Hamy's versatility and talent, introducing him to the French cinema.
As his career progressed, Hamy continued to take on increasingly challenging roles, showcasing his ability to adapt to different universes and genres. His unique blend of gentle and disturbing qualities, coupled with his athletic build, tender eyes, and fleshy mouth, made him a sought-after actor in independent cinema.
Despite his growing popularity, Hamy remains a relatively unknown figure outside of the film industry. However, his latest projects have garnered him more recognition, and he continues to make a name for himself in the world of cinema.
Outside of his acting career, Hamy is a talented sculptor and coach, and he also produces artists, including musician Oko Ebombo. His passion for basketball has led him to coach the youth team of the Pigalle/Paris district basketball club, demonstrating his commitment to giving back to his community.
