Paul King is a multifaceted creative professional, exceling in the realms of television, film, and theatre, with a particular emphasis on comedy. His impressive educational background includes graduating from St Catharine's College, Cambridge University with first-class honors in English in 1999.
During his time at Cambridge, King had the opportunity to collaborate with fellow talented individuals, including Richard Ayoade, Matthew Holness, and Alice Lowe. This fruitful association led to King directing them in several projects at the Edinburgh Festival, including "Garth Marenghi's FrightKnight" and "Netherhead", both of which received critical acclaim, with the latter winning the Perrier Award in 2001.
As Associate Director, King worked on the television adaptation of "Garth Marenghi's Darkplace", a six-part series for Channel 4. His exceptional directing skills were further showcased in 2002, when he garnered a Perrier Award nomination for directing Noel Fielding's Edinburgh Festival show, "Voodoo Hedgehog".
Paul King is also the acclaimed director of the popular television series "The Mighty Boosh", which he directed all three series of, earning a BAFTA nomination as Best New Director in 2004. King was initially brought on board to direct the first series after the original director, Steve Bendelack, was unable to do so. He also directed the live tour shows in 2006 and 2008.
In addition to his television work, King has also made a significant impact in the world of film. He wrote and directed his first feature film, "Bunny and the Bull", in 2009, which stars Simon Farnaby and Edward Hogg, and features cameos from Noel Fielding, Richard Ayoade, and Julian Barratt.
