Paul Lewis, a talented producer and production manager, hails from the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His father, a dedicated labor union organizer, and his mother, a devoted housewife, instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication.
After graduating from Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey, Paul made his way to the Big Apple, New York City, and became a member of the prestigious Actors' Equity. He began his career by acting in summer stock and Off-Broadway theatre productions before transitioning to stage management.
Lewis's passion for the performing arts led him to run the Actor's Playhouse in New York City for a stint. However, his aspirations soon took him to the Golden State, California, where he sought to break into the motion picture industry. Prior to landing his first film gig, Lewis continued to work as a stage manager, honing his skills and building his network.
In 1960, Paul snagged his first film gig as the associate producer of the low-budget drama "Walk the Angry Beach." This marked the beginning of a successful career in film production. Paul frequently collaborated with the iconic director Dennis Hopper on several features, including "Easy Rider," "The Last Movie," "Out of the Blue," "Colors," and "The Hot Spot."
Throughout his career, Paul worked with a diverse range of directors, including Richard Rush, Peter Bogdanovich, Monte Hellman, Jack Starrett, and Tom Laughlin. After decades of dedication to the film industry, Paul retired in the mid-1990s, leaving behind a legacy of innovative productions and unforgettable cinematic experiences.
