Paulo Calatré was born on January 20, 1976, in the city of Porto, Portugal.
He began his artistic journey by studying at ACE - Escola das Artes, where he pursued a course in Visual Arts, focusing on set design, costumes, and props. In 1998, he received a scholarship from the Leonardo Program, which enabled him to relocate to Madrid to further his education in makeup special effects.
After completing his studies, Calatré returned to Portugal and enrolled in the Acting course at the School of Music, Arts, and Performance - ESMAE in Porto. He later went on to earn a Master's degree in Staging from the same institution.
As a teacher, Calatré has been actively involved in sharing his knowledge and expertise with students. He regularly collaborates with various educational institutions, including ESMAE, ACE - Escola de Artes Porto, and Famalicão, where he teaches improvisation and acting.
In his capacity as an actor, Calatré has had the opportunity to work with numerous companies and directors, including João Cardoso, Nuno Carinhas, Nuno Cardoso, Ricardo Alves, Júlio Cardoso, Avaro Lavín, Roberto Merino, Luís Varela, Gonçalo Amorim, Luísa Pinto, Fernando Mora Ramos, and António Júlio, among others.
Some of his notable performances include Breve Sumário da História de Deus, Le Fin des Possibilitiés, Die Letzten Tage Der Menschheit, Macbeth, A Promessa, and Danton Tod, among others.
In addition to his work as an actor, Calatré has also made a name for himself as a theatre director. Some of his notable directorial projects include Diário de um Condenado, Quarto 34, R.III, Gil & Vicente - Uma Viagem de Barca ao Inferno, A La Poursuite de Lóiseau Du Sommeil, Les Aventures D'Auren, Le Petit Serial Killer, Pervertimento, Questa sera si recita a soggetto, Chat Room, Midsummer Night's Dream, and Coro dos Maus Alunos.
Calatré's work has not been limited to the stage, as he has also ventured into film and television, solidifying his status as a multifaceted artist.
