Biography

Pavel Kohout, a celebrated author and filmmaker, was born on July 20, 1928, in the charming metropolis of Prague, which at the time was a constituent part of the Czechoslovakian state, a federal republic that existed from 1918 to 1993, prior to its dissolution into two separate sovereign nations, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, both of which have since enjoyed independence and autonomy.

A renowned filmmaker, Kohout's remarkable trajectory has resulted in an enduring impact on the cinematic landscape, with a diverse range of notable works that continue to captivate audiences to this day. Among his most notable credits are the 1965 films "Seven Days in a Week" and "Svatba s podmínkou", which showcased his mastery of storytelling and ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with viewers.

Kohout's personal life has been marked by a series of significant romantic relationships, beginning with his initial marriage to the lovely Alena Vránová, a union that would ultimately be followed by a second marriage to Anna Kohoutová.

It was, however, his third and most enduring partnership that would bring him the greatest joy and fulfillment. In 1970, Kohout exchanged vows with the charming Jelena Kohout, a woman who would become his soulmate and lifelong companion.
