Pekin Ibrahim, born October 25, 1981, is a Malaysian actor. He initially gained recognition for his role in the Kelantanese dialect film Bunohan (2012). Pekin's extensive filmography includes Di Ambang Misteri (2004),Cinta Terakhir (2009),Skrip 7707 (2009),Al-Hijab (2011),Paku Pontianak (2013),Cerita Kita (2013),Coverina (2015),Kampung Drift (2016),and Volkswagen Kuning (2016).
Pekin's breakthrough roles include Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah (2010),Rock Ooo (2013),Lagenda Budak Hostel (2013),Tokan (2013),Apokalips X (2014),Ophilia (2014),Villa Nabila (2015),Juvana 2 (2015),Mat Moto (2016),and Munafik (2016).
Pekin won his first Malaysia Film Festival award for Mat Moto: Kami Bukan Mat Rempit and was named Best Actor at the 2016 Malaysia Film Festival, beating other nominees like Shaheizy Sam, Zizan Razak, and Aaron Aziz.
Born in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Pekin started his career as a worker at A&W Restaurants, Subang Jaya after leaving his hometown in 1998 to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He attended several auditions while working at the restaurant and mastered the English language to remove his thick Kelantanese accent.
Pekin began his career as a supporting actor, playing roles in Di Ambang Misteri (2004),Cinta Terakhir (2009),and Skrip 7707 (2009). His breakthrough role came with Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah (2010),followed by Bunohan (2012),where he had to speak in Kelantanese dialect.
In 2013, Pekin starred in Rock Ooo and Lagenda Budak Hostel, and then appeared in Apokalips X (2014) and Ophilia (2014). He played a main character in Villa Nabila (2015) and Munafik (2016),which earned approximately RM 19 million in two months.
Pekin also ventured into directing, starting with Mat Moto and Volkswagen Kuning in 2016. He won three awards at the 28th Malaysia Film Festival, including Best Original Story, Best New Actress for Falisha Crossley, and Best Actor for himself.
