Born in south Florida, Persia's early life was characterized by her exposure to lush tropical landscapes, multi-cultural influences, and Reggae music. Her mother, a compassionate schoolteacher, writer, and civil-rights activist, moved the family to the Bahamas for work. Persia's early life was marked by her love for music, and she began her acting career in Miami, Florida, where she was discovered by a talent scout for the Coconut Grove Children's Theater.
Persia initially intended to pursue a career in music, but instead chose to focus on acting, citing the importance of creative control in her artistic endeavors. In 2009, Persia released her debut solo album "MECCA," a sprawling, twelve-track journey that combines elements of electronica, trip-hop, blues, and prog-rock. The album features collaborations with artists such as Saul Williams, Tricky, and Ric Alien, and was produced by Persia herself, mixed by Dave Way, and mastered by Brian Gardner.
