Biography

In the year 1939, his family made the significant decision to emigrate to Uruguay, marking a new chapter in their lives.

In 1956, he received a prestigious scholarship to pursue his academic endeavors at the Hochschule der Künste (HDK) in Berlin, Germany.

Between the years 1959 and 1964, he worked at the renowned German TV channel Suedwestfunk, initially as an assistant and later as a director, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience in the industry.

In the academic year 1967-1968, he took on the role of lecturer at the esteemed Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie in Berlin, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of filmmakers.

In addition to his academic pursuits, he co-founded the influential German distributor Filmverlag der Autoren, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the arts.

Since 1985, he has held the esteemed position of headmaster of the section Film- und Medienkunst at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, a role that has allowed him to shape the future of the film and media industry.
