Petra Lüschow's academic journey began with a comprehensive education in theater, film, and literature at the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Vienna. She further honed her skills by studying script writing and dramaturgy at the College of Film and Television Potsdam from 1996 to 2001.
Petra's foray into filmmaking commenced with her debut movie, "Going Private" (2006),which premiered at the "Berlinale Panorama" and garnered international accolades. This intense chamber play explores the devastating impact of the New Economy's greed on personal relationships.
In 2008, Petra adapted the bestselling novel "Tannöd" into a cinematic masterpiece, featuring Julia Jentsch, Monica Bleibtreu, and Volker Bruch in leading roles. Her extensive body of work also includes scripts for television series, such as "Tatort", and films like the comedy "The Hamster" starring Roeland Wiesnekker.
Petra made her directorial debut with the short film comedy "The Little Nazi" (2010),which she also wrote. This black comedy, starring Steffi Kühnert, Oliver Stokowski, and Christine Schorn, delves into the confrontation of many Germans with their family's Nazi past. The film received widespread acclaim, winning numerous international jury and audience awards, including the Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Short Film Award and the Best Comedy Award at the International Short Film Festival "Heart of Gold" in Melbourne.
Petra's feature film debut, "That's it, Helmut", which she wrote and directed, is set to be released in 2018.
