Petros Fyssoun, a renowned Greek actor, was born on October 5, 1933, in Agrinio, Greece, although some sources dispute this claim, suggesting he was actually born in Russia. His father, a Russian refugee, had fled to Greece following the October Revolution and settled in the country. Fyssoun's early life was marked by his passion for the performing arts, which he pursued by studying acting at the Drama School of "Theatro Technis" in Athens.
He made his stage debut in 1953, starring in a production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" in Athens, and quickly established himself as one of the top actors of his generation. Throughout his illustrious career, he appeared in numerous theatrical productions, including Sophocles' "Electra" as Orestis, Lillian Hellmann's "Watch on the Rhine" as Kurt Muller, Anton Chekhov's "The Seagull" as Dorn, and Eugene O' Neill's "Desire Under the Elms" as Ephriam Cabot, among many others.
Fyssoun's collaborations with the National Theater of Greece were particularly noteworthy, and he often formed his own stage groups, showcasing his versatility and range as a performer. In addition to his extensive theatrical career, Fyssoun also made a significant impact in the world of film, making his screen debut in 1958 and starring in numerous dramas, including "The Outlaws" (1958) and "Prodosia" (1964).
In the weeks leading up to his passing, Fyssoun was hospitalized at the Sotiria hospital in Athens, where he was treated for respiratory infection.
